Apprenticeship with Foxley Kingham
You don’t need a degree to become a qualified chartered accountant. Our higher-level apprenticeship will provide you with the opportunity to kick start your career in accountancy.
Why choose us?
What is our apprenticeship scheme?
At Foxley Kingham, we offer A-level school leavers the opportunity to train with us to become a qualified chartered accountant.
We have a tradition of developing “home grown” talent. We will support you in achieving your professional qualification and will offer you additional personal development to hone your skills and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of different work including accounting, audit, tax and doctors accounts.
Through our apprenticeship scheme, students will have the opportunity to become a Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). This is considered to be a ‘Gold Standard’ accountancy qualification recognised globally.
What to expect
What is it like on our apprenticeship scheme?
With Foxley Kingham’s apprenticeship scheme, about 20% of the student’s time is spent in some kind of structured learning.
This might mean taking a week back in the classroom instead of the office to learn more of the course content and prepare for any exams as they come up.
The other 80% of the time, the apprentice will work on real accounts, learning from the team and working towards the chartered accountant status, all whilst getting paid.
Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship scheme at Foxley Kingham, you’ll be coached and supported by our staff, who are experts in their field.
This is a fully funded professional qualification, so students won’t need to pay for any courses, exams or study materials.
What is the criteria?
- At least a grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- At least 3 A-Levels (or equivalent), grades A-C
“Meet Brea, our AI-generated assistant created to share insights into our accountancy apprenticeship scheme. While Brea isn’t a real person, the information, pathways, and stories she shares are drawn from the real-life experiences of our apprentices here at Foxley Kingham.”
“Real world experience is essential in any job role but particularly in accounting. You can learn masses of technical knowledge through studying and exams, however it’s your ability to apply that information to real life scenarios that makes you as a potential employee desirable to employers.”

Profile of some of our apprentices
Alice McCracken
AAT Level 3
“My journey joining Foxley Kingham straight after Sixth Form has been so beneficial for my personal development, not only academically but the office work environment teaches you a lot of working life skills you just can’t learn at university. When studying AAT Level 3 with the firm I found I was always able to find support as many of my colleagues have also studied within the firm, so help is always accessible. I’ve found working here alongside studying was a massive help as I learnt many things whilst doing the job prior to learning it in study, which allowed me to understand certain topics a bit easier.”
Luke Smith
AAT Level 3
“Since arriving from Sixth Form onto the apprenticeship scheme I have seen both my accounting and core competencies develop considerably with support from numerous team members, who are always happy to help and contribute. I found studying AAT Level 3 alongside working day to day extremely beneficial being able to implement my studies knowledge into practice.”
Taylor Lydon
CFAB Level 4
“During my time at FK, I feel like the work environment is great and that everyone is willing to help. When I studied for AAT Level 3 there was always someone to ask about the course as most people working here have done it. Also, there was no set exam dates so it meant I could study at my own speed.”
Ryan Ireton
ACA Professional Level
“From the moment I joined Foxley Kingham, I felt like part of the team. Everyone was incredibly supportive and genuinely invested in helping me develop my career. While working towards my ACA qualification, my studies closely complemented the work I was doing day to day, allowing me to apply new technical knowledge directly to client work and to build both confidence and experience.
I’m proud of what I have achieved so far and of the breadth of experience I’ve gained whilst completing my ACA qualification. I’m keen to continue developing within the firm, and I look forward to what the next stage of my career will bring.”
