Apprenticeship with Foxley Kingham

You don’t need a degree to become a qualified chartered accountant. Our higher-level apprenticeship will provide you with the opportunity to kick start your career in accountancy.

Why choose us?

What is our apprenticeship scheme?

At Foxley Kingham, we offer A-level school leavers the opportunity to train with us to become a qualified chartered accountant.

We have a tradition of developing “home grown” talent. We will support you in achieving your professional qualification and will offer you additional personal development to hone your skills and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of different work including accounting, audit, tax and doctors accounts.

Through our apprenticeship scheme, students will have the opportunity to become a Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). This is considered to be a ‘Gold Standard’ accountancy qualification recognised globally.

What to expect

What is it like on our apprenticeship scheme?

With Foxley Kingham’s apprenticeship scheme, about 20% of the student’s time is spent in some kind of structured learning.

This might mean taking a week back in the classroom instead of the office to learn more of the course content and prepare for any exams as they come up.

The other 80% of the time, the apprentice will work on real accounts, learning from the team and working towards the chartered accountant status, all whilst getting paid.

Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship scheme at Foxley Kingham, you’ll be coached and supported by our staff, who are experts in their field.

This is a fully funded professional qualification, so students won’t need to pay for any courses, exams or study materials.

Staff stories

Listen to what we have to say about our apprenticeship scheme

“Real world experience is essential in any job role but particularly in accounting. You can learn masses of technical knowledge through studying and exams, however it’s your ability to apply that information to real life scenarios that makes you as a potential employee desirable to employers.”

Anthony Khan

Anthony Khan

CFAB Level 4

“Since starting at Foxley Kingham I have felt well supported by everyone around me and been made to feel like an important member of the team. After completing AAT Level 3 qualification I found the theory for my exams showing through in the work I’m doing and really seeing the benefits of the work/ study balance. Whilst studying for my CFAB Level 4 qualification the work I have been provided has become more challenging and I’ve found Foxley Kingham a very rewarding environment to progress in as the team will happily give you any help and advice you could need and really celebrate your wins with you.”

CFAB Level 4

“During my time at FK, I feel like the work environment is great and that everyone is willing to help. When I studied for AAT Level 3 there was always someone to ask about the course as most people working here have done it. Also, there was no set exam dates so it meant I could study at my own speed.”

Luke Saunders

ACA Professional Level

“Working at Foxley Kingham is great, the team are incredibly supportive and always there to lend a helping hand. What I find brilliant is that as an apprentice there is a genuine care to how you’re coping with the work/study balance and how you are getting on with your courses. “

Ryan Ireton

ACA Professional Level

“From the moment I arrived at Foxley Kingham I felt like part of the team with everyone being so willing to help with my career progression. Whilst studying  I have found that the courses I have studied have helped boost my progression and knowledge at work. With the course being very similar to the work I do at Foxley Kingham, it has benefited both my study and my work.”

Abbie Hedges

Newly Qualified

“Working at FK is very rewarding. You are supported throughout your training and are given the opportunity to apply what you have learnt in your studies to real clients back in the office.”

Bradley Cox

“I joined Foxley Kingham at 18 directly from Sixth Form having decided University was not for me. The apprenticeship scheme at Foxley Kingham allowed me to learn on the job, receive an income and avoid student loan costs. The great thing about studying at Foxley Kingham is that someone will have been there before you, so there is always someone to coach and mentor you.

I am now passing down my advice to our new apprentices. Qualifying as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant takes hard work and dedication and I feel that working alongside the ever-growing team at Foxley Kingham has allowed me to gain my qualification whilst applying my studies to real life work on a daily basis.”
