Apprenticeship with Foxley Kingham

You don’t need a degree to become a qualified chartered accountant. Our higher-level apprenticeship will provide you with the opportunity to kick start your career in accountancy.

Why choose us?

What is our apprenticeship scheme?

At Foxley Kingham, we offer A-level school leavers the opportunity to train with us to become a qualified chartered accountant.

We have a tradition of developing “home grown” talent. We will support you in achieving your professional qualification and will offer you additional personal development to hone your skills and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of different work including accounting, audit, tax and doctors accounts.

Through our apprenticeship scheme, students will have the opportunity to become a Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). This is considered to be a ‘Gold Standard’ accountancy qualification recognised globally.

What to expect

What is it like on our apprenticeship scheme?

With Foxley Kingham’s apprenticeship scheme, about 20% of the student’s time is spent in some kind of structured learning.

This might mean taking a week back in the classroom instead of the office to learn more of the course content and prepare for any exams as they come up.

The other 80% of the time, the apprentice will work on real accounts, learning from the team and working towards the chartered accountant status, all whilst getting paid.

Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship scheme at Foxley Kingham, you’ll be coached and supported by our staff, who are experts in their field.

This is a fully funded professional qualification, so students won’t need to pay for any courses, exams or study materials.

“The role as a chartered accountant is far more diverse than I ever anticipated. I went into the role with the belief that each day I would be “number crunching” to produce financial statements. Little did I know, my role would be able to provide me with the opportunity to engage in a vast array of work” – Aimee Dimmock

Aimee Dimmock is an accounts and audit senior who is currently on training scheme to become a chartered accountant with our team. Aimee came to work with us here at Foxley Kingham after finishing her A levels and has been an asset to the team since she arrived!

Staff stories

Listen to what Aimee has to say about our apprenticeship scheme

“Real world experience is essential in any job role but particularly in accounting. You can learn masses of technical knowledge through studying and exams, however it’s your ability to apply that information to real life scenarios that makes you as a potential employee desirable to employers. For me, the practical experience I have gained through my apprenticeship has made the content I am learning not only more interesting, but also so much easier to understand.” – Aimee Dimmock

Profile of some of our apprentices

Luke Saunders

AAT Level 3

“While I have only been at Foxley Kingham for a little over a year I already feel part of a such a great team. Having the option to take study days in the office in between days at college and your exams is a big help as you can always ask the senior apprentices who have studied for that course to explain anything you are unsure of.”

Ryan Ireton

AAT Level 3

“From the moment I arrived at Foxley Kingham I felt like part of the team with everyone being so willing to help with my career progression. Whilst studying for my AAT level 3 qualification I have found that the courses I have studied have helped boost my progression and knowledge at work. With the course being very similar to the work I do at Foxley Kingham, it has benefited both my study and my work.”

Abbie Hedges

CFAB Level 4

“Working at FK is very rewarding. You are supported throughout your training and are given the opportunity to apply what you have learnt in your studies to real clients back in the office.”

Sophie Gray

ACA Professional Level

“Working at Foxley Kingham has given me the opportunity to gain experience and insight of working with clients from a variety of industries. Having colleagues at all different stages of their qualification means there’s always someone to turn to for advice and support relating to both work and study.”

Connor Darocha

Newly Qualified

“Starting the ACA qualification as an apprentice provided me with the invaluable opportunity to learn on the job whilst at the same time, study towards and achieve an internationally recognised qualification. Now fully qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant with six years of practical work experience, I am now in a position to develop and progress my career even further.”
